Incidents are sometimes unavoidable, even in a care home setting, which is why regular and effective training is crucial. This ensures that our team is always prepared to respond swiftly and competently to any situation. A prime example of this occurred when our deputy manager and nurse, Valentin Joita, quickly responded to an emergency call bell when a resident began choking. Using his critical thinking skills, he performed abdominal thrusts, saving the resident’s life. Valentin’s prompt action underscores the importance of regular refresher sessions and utilizing colleagues’ expertise. In an interview, Valentin expressed his pride in working alongside professionals who share his passion for helping people.
Our Oral Health Champion, Andreea Birligea, has a success story that exemplifies the impact of dedication and expertise. Through her strong communication and perseverance, she helped a resident initially considered to be at the end of life to regain his health. Three years later, at the age of 100, he is now walking and feeding himself, thanks to Andreea’s diligent care.
We are also proud to highlight Cristian Panaitiu, our Enablement Officer, known for his remarkable success in transitioning residents back to their own homes. Cristian excels in supporting residents to regain confidence and independence. His outstanding contributions have earned him national recognition as a finalist in the Stars of Social Care and the Great British Care Awards.
