Dementia Care

Our home is designed to provide a secure, caring and friendly environment to those with dementia. Our Dementia Care team has all undergone thorough, specialised training in dealing with all aspects and severity levels of dementia. Our team is fully trained to understand dementia, and we take pride in providing the highest levels of care and respect for every individual. 

Our Carers and Activity Coordinators go above and beyond, collaborating with dementia residents and their loved ones to identify activities and therapies that are appropriate for their specific needs and to help them thrive; through daily planned activities, social and mental stimulation and interaction are improved and any frustrations and tensions linked with dementia are relieved.

What is Dementia Care?

Dementia is a long-term illness that affects a number of mental functions, including speech issues and memory loss. With appropriate care and support, those living with dementia can continue to live their lives to the fullest. Here at Ridgeway Rise Care Home, our staff assists our residents with dementia to help maintain their sense of self and independence for as long as possible. We recognise that no two people are alike and that although some may only require modest assistance in managing their everyday lives, others may require much more. Our Dementia Care is entirely unique to each resident and our home and staff are the perfect combination for residents to live a fulfilled life, safely.

Our Approach to Dementia Care

Our team is fully trained to understand dementia, and we take pride in providing the highest levels of care and respect for every individual. Through daily planned activities, social and mental stimulation and interaction are improved, and any frustrations and tensions linked with dementia are relieved. We strive to provide adequate treatment that helps each individual to achieve their best potential and live a happy and comfortable life. Our home design was inspired by leading dementia research and good practices, with distinct spaces and recognition of the need for comfort and familiarity, as well as the practicalities like well-designed en-suite wet rooms and awareness of the importance of some elements in the home environment.

Our Healthcare Services

We aim to make daily life as comfortable as possible for our residents. This is achieved by combining the highest quality of care alongside a variety of enriching services, all designed to enhance our residents’ wellbeing and sense of routine. Our healthcare services include:

GP Access

Residents are able to arrange appointments with their GP and attend the surgery with the assistance of a staff member. This cost is included in the weekly care home fee.

Eye Care

All residents have access to an optician who will examine and treat any vision-related issues. This treatment comes at an additional cost.

Dentist Appointments

Those in need of dental care and treatment are able to be seen by a dentist. There will be an extra cost for treatment carried out.

Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy treatments are available to those who are suffering from joint or muscular pain. This service is not included within the overall fee.

Chiropody

At an additional expense, an appointment with a Chiropodist can be scheduled to assess and treat residents with foot-related concerns.

By combining the highest quality of care alongside a variety of enriching activities, we are able to enhance residents’ wellbeing and sense of routine. We encourage our residents to try new things as well as continue with their favourite hobbies, meet new people and make use of all of the amenities our home has to offer. We operate as one big family here at Ridgeway Rise, whether you are a resident, a member of our team, or simply just visiting for the day. We understand a great family makes a house a home; we facilitate residents so they are able to retain connections to their loved ones and enjoy the community and companionship of fellow residents and staff.
