Our care home in Swindon is designed to provide a secure, caring and friendly environment to those with dementia. Our Dementia Care team has all undergone thorough, specialised training in dealing with all aspects and severity levels of dementia. Our team is fully trained to understand dementia, and we take pride in providing the highest levels of care and respect for every individual.

Our Carers and Activity Coordinators go above and beyond, collaborating with dementia residents and their loved ones to identify activities and therapies that are appropriate for their specific needs and to help them thrive; through daily planned activities, social and mental stimulation and interaction are improved and any frustrations and tensions linked with dementia are relieved.

What is Dementia Care?

Dementia is a long-term illness that affects a number of mental functions, including speech issues and memory loss. With appropriate care and support, those living with dementia can continue to live their lives to the fullest. Here at Ridgeway Rise Care Home, our staff assists our residents with dementia to help maintain their sense of self and independence for as long as possible. We recognise that no two people are alike and that although some may only require modest assistance in managing their everyday lives, others may require much more. Our Dementia Care is entirely unique to each resident and our home and staff are the perfect combination for residents to live a fulfilled life, safely.

Prior to their arrival at Ridgeway Rise Care Home, we conduct comprehensive consultations with our Home Manager, the prospective resident, and their loved ones. This collaborative process enables us to grasp their individual needs, daily routines, and personal preferences, which we then incorporate into their customised care plans. Our priority is to foster independence and dignity, ensuring residents feel supported and valued throughout their time with us.

Our commitment to staff development includes extensive training for our dementia care team, ensuring they remain well-informed about the latest developments in dementia care and support. With a wealth of experience and expertise, our team is adept at providing comprehensive care, offering support with various tasks such as therapies, activities, communication, mobility, medication management, and personal support.

At Ridgeway Rise Care Home, we have developed a comprehensive activities programme, comprising both group and one-on-one activities and therapies. Residents can participate in regular arts and crafts sessions, engaging in music therapy, reminiscence activities, and more.
