Fundraising for Alzheimer’s Society
We recently hosted our very own Alzheimer's Society fundraiser in recognition of World Alzheimer's Month, a campaign that takes place worldwide to raise awareness for Alzheimer's.
For this year's Alzheimer’s Month celebration, we chose to support the Alzheimer’s Society with a "rocking" fundraiser to help spread awareness of research and dementia challenges.
Our home had the wonderful idea of a 'Rocking Chair Challenge', where our staff, residents, volunteers, relatives and even a few of our furry friends were all involved, taking turns rocking in a rocking chair for 24 hours.
It was such an amazing event that saw members of our home come together with those in our local community. We had previously hand-delivered invitations to our neighbours, including Peggy, our 101-year-old resident who helped us with our delivery.
To support the great efforts from our rocking squad, our team together with the residents baked some biscuits to help keep their energy levels high. We also had live musical entertainment to keep us going which was a great motivator.
The event was great fun and a very unconventional way of fundraising - all in attendance had a wonderful time watching the events unfold, socialising and making great memories. It provided fantastic team building for our staff, good exercise for those who rocked and an opportunity to invite those in our local community to be a part of our home.
We are very proud to have collected £66 for Alzheimer's Society and we look forward to continuing our fundraising activities in support of more causes and charities.
We are not only proud ambassadors for Dementia & Alzheimer's but we are also to provide Dementia Care at our care home in Swindon. We understand the complexities of the disease and take care of every aspect, supporting our residents with not only their physical health but mental wellbeing too.
Ridgeway Rise is well known in the community for organising open events and inviting neighbours to be part of the care home’s life. We are ambassadors for Dementia and Alzheimer's and they play a big part in our fundraising and activities programme throughout the year. We believe it’s a great way of showing the residents that they are still part of the community and also raising money for a worthy cause.
