Love Was in The Air at Ridgeway Rise!

At Ridgeway Rise Care Home, love was truly in the air this Valentine’s Day as residents, their families and our dedicated team came together for a heartfelt celebration filled with music and treasured memories.

In the days leading up to the big day, there was a real sense of excitement around the home. Residents enjoyed spending time together baking and decorating heart-shaped biscuits, before carefully wrapping them to share with neighbours and friends in the local community. It was a simple but meaningful gesture that reminded everyone that love and connection extend far beyond our front door.

On Valentine’s Day itself, Ridgeway Rise was beautifully transformed with elegant heart-themed decorations, creating a warm and romantic setting for the festivities. Residents gathered for a party with live music that had everyone singing along, tapping their feet and even enjoying a dance. Music has a wonderful way of bringing people together, and it was lovely to see so many smiling faces and shared moments of happiness.

One of the highlights of the day was a special romantic dinner arranged for residents and their spouses. Our dining room was thoughtfully set with elegant touches, offering couples the opportunity to enjoy an intimate afternoon together. It was a chance to reflect on years of shared memories and celebrate the love stories that continue to inspire us all.

Margaret, who joined her husband Ivor for dinner, kindly shared her experience. She said, “I have had a fabulous time with Ivor sharing Valentine’s Day with him and joining him for dinner. The food was superb, so pleased, thank the catering staff for me and also the help I got to feed Ivor so I could enjoy my dinner accompanied by some most welcome wine. I feel really spoiled and extremely happy.” Her words meant so much to our team, who work hard every day to ensure both residents and their loved ones feel supported and valued.

Another family member commented, “Amazing! Thank you for being the best possible care for my mum. The Valentine’s couples lunch was so thoughtful, especially for my parents, as dad was able to join mum to celebrate their 66th wedding anniversary on the same day.” We were especially honoured to share in this remarkable milestone. Celebrating 66 years of marriage is a truly special achievement, and it was a touching reminder of the strength of lifelong commitment and companionship.

At Ridgeway Rise Care Home, we believe that moments like these matter deeply. Our celebrations are opportunities to nurture relationships, create new memories and honour the lives and stories of the people who call our home their own.
