At Ridgeway Rise Care Home, we are fortunate to house beautiful landscaped gardens, offering residents the ideal space to stretch their legs, enjoy fresh air and take in the natural beauty of our gardens.
Whether residents wish to enjoy some time to themselves, or whether they want to invite their loved ones for an alfresco meal, our gardens are the ideal spot for those who love the outdoors.
When the weather allows, we host as many activities in the garden as possible. Enjoying the garden allows residents to enjoy a change of scenery and make the most of the various wildlife that visits us. Our Activity Coordinators plan many activities around the gardens themselves, with activities such as planting flowers and vegetables and watering the plants. We encourage all of our residents to take part in activities in the garden as they have great health and social benefits, as well as offering residents a sense of ownership and responsibility.
Summertimes at Ridgeway Rise are much anticipated and loved by residents and staff alike. We aim to make the most of the dry, warm weather whenever we can; sunny days can see us hosting BBQs, entertainment outdoors, as well as our popular annual Summer Fête. These are great opportunities for our residents to socialise and invite loved ones to join in with the fun too.

By giving our residents access to a garden, they can benefit from fresh air and vitamin D, participate in outdoor activities, and connect with nature, leading to various mental and physical advantages. These include reduced stress and anxiety, elevated mood, improved cognitive abilities, better heart health, and enhanced balance and muscle function.
Within the garden, residents can participate in various outdoor activities, such as walking, gardening, exercise sessions, and, weather permitting, dining with loved ones, engaging in outdoor arts and crafts, and enjoying live entertainment.
Our care home has taken measures to ensure that the garden is inclusive and accessible for every resident, including wheelchair-accessible paths, seating arrangements for those with mobility issues, secure fencing and gates, well-maintained pathways, appropriate lighting, and other safety features to prevent any incidents and safeguard our residents.
