Deputy Manager Wins ‘Nurse of the Year’ Award

nurse of the year award nights

Ridgeway Rise Care Home is extremely proud to announce that our Deputy Manager, Valentin, has won ‘Nurse of The Year’ at a recent awards night that we attended.

Vali is a devoted member of the Ridgeway Rise team who has achieved so much for the home and has worked really hard to ensure that high-standards are delivered in everything we do.

Vali recently worked closely with Bristol University on an AFRI-c study that aimed to help develop a new air filter that would reduce respiratory infections in homes from the likes of winter colds and COVID-19. Championing this project, Vali was responsible for training the team, data collection, and maintaining communication with the families.

The study found that the use of air filters reduced respiratory infections in the home, keeping residents safe and healthy. As a result of this successful collaboration, Valentin formed a close relationship with the UOB which resulted in the air filter being gifted to Ridgeway Rise and we now have a partnership that places their nursing students into our home.

As well as taking on this study, Vali oversaw many projects in 2022 and implemented a new electronic care plan in the home using the platform 'Nourish'. Vali expertly trained all of our staff members and mentored the team including our nurses, carers, and activity coordinators, which led to our home effectively and efficiently completing all of our care plans.

Not only did Vali take 'Nourish' in his stride, but he also developed new ways of working that made the platform more user-friendly and introduced protocols that support our nurses to capture person-centred care which involved getting the resident's input.

When Vali isn't working hard to ensure residents receive the highest-quality care, he is taking part in the home activities and goes the extra mile to ensure that residents are enjoying every minute. He has performed in several home talent shows for everyone's entertainment.

Vali has been integral to the success of our care home and has really helped the relationships between our home, residents, and their families bloom.

In addition to Valentin's success at the awards night, Ridgeway Rise was also mentioned on more than one occasion, appreciated for the outstanding performance by our Home Manager, Bella in achieving a "Good" Care Quality Commission rating and no agency staffing, amongst other attributes.

We were also recognised as a home that invests in its employees with a high number of apprentices that have shown fantastic performance.

To celebrate Vali’s win and always going the extra mile, Ridgeway Rise Care Home held a party. We invited friends and family to celebrate with us, and we had live music and lots of treats available.

We awarded Vali with a 'Congratulations' book and he did a fantastic speech of gratitude for his award and answered lots of questions that our guests had.

The staff and residents even surprised Vali by wearing masks with his face on, which everyone found to be very funny, including Vali himself. Vali was incredibly humbled by everybody's support and kind words.
